Digital Accessibility (WCAG) & EAA

A store every customer can use comfortably – in line with the new requirements.

Since 28 June 2025 the European Accessibility Act (EAA) has applied to services including e-commerce. Microenterprises providing services are exempt, but other online stores selling to consumers in the EU should meet its requirements.

We audit your website or store against WCAG 2.1 level AA – the standard the EAA's harmonised norms build on – and fix issues without breaking your design, on WordPress, Webflow and other platforms.

Frequently asked questions

Does the EAA apply to my store?

It applies to most online stores selling to consumers. Microenterprises (fewer than 10 employees and annual turnover or balance sheet total up to €2 million) are exempt. If in doubt, confirm with a lawyer.

Is an accessibility plugin enough?

No. Accessibility overlays don't fix problems in the code and can even make screen readers harder to use. Effective fixes are made in the site itself.

Will accessibility change my store's design?

Usually only slightly: we improve contrast, focus and labels. Your design and brand character stay.

Where do we start?
